Exceptional Service: When a Mishap Turned into a Memorable Moment

At Peninsula Credit Union, we take pride in going above and beyond to serve our members. Today, we want to share a remarkable story of dedication and quick thinking that turned a potential problem into a memorable moment for one of our valued members.

Meet Lisa, a member who was gearing up for a trip to Las Vegas. Excitement was in the air as she prepared for her adventure. However, a seemingly routine request added an unexpected twist to her plans.

Lisa contacted our Call Center and requested a $2,500 Cashier’s Check to be mailed to her. She needed the check for her trip but didn’t have the time to visit the branch in person. The check was promptly processed and sent on its way. Little did anyone know that an unusual surprise was awaiting Lisa in Vegas.

Upon receiving the envelope, Lisa eagerly opened it at her other bank, intending to make a deposit. To her astonishment, she found that the Cashier’s Check was made payable to another person and was issued for the amount of just $5.00. Panic and uncertainty set in as Lisa realized that her much-needed $2,500 check was nowhere to be found.

In her moment of concern, Lisa reached out to Colleen at Peninsula Credit Union. Colleen had been assisting Lisa with her loan, and she knew that she could rely on her for help. With a calm and reassuring voice, Colleen assured Lisa that she would investigate the matter.

Delving into the situation, Colleen discovered that a rare mishap had occurred that day. Two checks had been printed, and somehow, they had been placed in the wrong mailing envelopes. This mix-up had led to Lisa’s predicament. Faced with the possibility that someone else might cash her $2,500 check, Lisa’s anxiety was understandable.

Colleen acted swiftly. She contacted our eServices team and promptly reached out to Accounting. With their support, she initiated a Stop Payment on the “lost” Cashier’s Check. But that wasn’t all – Colleen went the extra mile.

With determination and care, Colleen ordered a new Cashier’s Check for $2,500 with a new check number. She also obtained Lisa’s account information at her other bank. Without hesitation, Colleen drove to the local branch of the other bank to personally ensure that Lisa’s funds were deposited correctly.

Lisa’s vacation plans were saved, and she could relax, knowing that the misrouted check had been immediately replaced and deposited as intended. Colleen’s exceptional dedication and quick problem-solving skills turned what could have been a stressful situation into a moment of relief and gratitude.

At Peninsula Credit Union, we are committed to providing exceptional service and going the extra mile for our members. Lisa’s story is a testament to the values we hold dear: trust, reliability, and unwavering support.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Colleen for her extraordinary effort in ensuring that Lisa’s trip remained unforgettable for all the right reasons.

Quick note: While this story is based on a true event, Lisa and Colleen’s names have been changed to protect the member’s identity.
